I miss? I miss when bowl games meant something beyond just another TV slot. I remember sitting in the old Amon Carter Stadium watching the 1998 Sun Bowl against USC and feeling like we had arrived. We earned that trip through a whole season of two-a-days and blood sweat and tears. Now it is all about who can buy the biggest transfer class and which conference pays the most for a Tuesday night game in December.
The whole Sorsby mess at Texas Tech just prves my point. We are sitting here in June with the Big 12 presidents terrified to pull a lawsuit because of some quarterback's NFL future. Back in my day you played your senior year and you went to the Cotton Bowl or the Peach Bowl and you shook hands with the other team afterward. Now we have federal lawsuits over eligibility and kids jumping from school to school every winter.
