The SEC hype train is getting out of control again. everybody wants to crown this conference as untouchable but the numbers from last season tell a different story. The SEC had 4 teams finish top 10 in SP+ and 7 in the top 25 which is still impressive but the Big Ten matched that with 6 teams in the top 25 and 3 in the top 10. Oregon finished 2nd in SP+ while Georgia was 3rd. The gap is closing fast and the portal era is the reason why.
Florida Gators sitting at 12th in the 2027 ESPN recruiting rankings is fine for June but this program needs to close stronger than last year. The real story here is that the SEC's recruiting dominance is shrinking. Texas A&M and Auburn are both top 20 but neither cracked the top 10.
