You know, this kind of talk reminds me of the old MIAA days when Northwest Missouri State would get a little too big for their britches after a good season. everybody has their year in the sun. I wattched our Ichabods have magical seasons under Coach Schurig that we couldn't quite sustain, but nobody can ever take those years away. To call Indiana a fluke because they got some breaks is sour grapes. Every champion needs a bounce or two to go their way, that's football. I remember our '05 run to the Mineral Water Bowl, we had a fumble recovery against Pittsburg State that changed everything. Was that a fluke? No, it was a team seizing the moment. Building a great recruiting class is fine, we've had those too, but it doesn't guarantee a thing on the field. The portal might let you assemble talent quickly these days, but it doesn't build the heart of a team that just won it all. Indiana earned that title on the field, against everybody they played. Let them have their time. Sustainable monsters aren't built on paper, they're built over years, through adversity. We learned that the hard way after some of our best seasons. Talk to me in December. Until then, show some respect for the champs.
