Just saw that Sun Belt preview drop and had to laugh. Georgia Southern, Georgia State, all those programs we used to scrimmage in fall camp like they were tune-ups. Now the Sun Belt is supposedly this competitive juggernaut that could shake things up at the top. Good for them. Build your conferences, get your exposure. But can we talk about how our in-state little brothers are still pllaying second fiddle to what we do in Athens every single Saturday? Georgia Southern had a nice run a decade ago with that option stuff. Georgia State pulled off some upsets. None of them are stepping into Sanford Stadium and leaving with a W. Ever. I love that the Sun Belt gets attention now because it means more Georgia kids are staying home and playing ball at a high level. More programs for guys who dont crack our rotation to find a home and develop. That pipeline works both ways. We send talent down, they send game film up for our scouts to evaluate. The state of Georgia produces so much high school talent that everybody eats. But let's not pretend the hierarchy has changed. We are still the flagship program in this state and we are not sharing that throne with anyone. You want to talk about culture? Walk through downtown Athens on a game day Saturday afternoon. That is culture. The Sun Belt has a nice little league now with Louisiana and James Madison and App State fighting for titles. I respect the product. But the hedges, the chapel bell, the way this town shuts down for six hours every fall weekend. That is what separates us from everybody else in this state. Georgia Southern can have their option offense and Georgia State can have their downtown stadium. We have the SEC and a trophy case that keeps getting heavier.
