You watch all these spread offenses now with the QB in the gun every snap and I just miss the old triple option days. Back when we ran the veer under Coach Sullivan in the late 70s and early 80s you knew what was coming and you still could not stop it. That 1981 team that went 6-4-2 would just line up and run the option right at you, fullback dive, quarterback keep, pitch to the halfback, all off the same mesh point. No NIL nonsense, no portal, just eleven guys knowing their assignment and executing. You watch Georgia Tech's old option teams under Paul Johnson and it reminds me of what we used to do. The game was simpler then, more honest. Now everything is about space and tempo and these fancy route combinations. Give me the old school option where you earned every yard between the tackles.
