Watching everyone obsess over ESPN's under-the-radar players list and I just keep coming back to one thing. Our defensive unit is gonna surprise a lot of people this fall. Nobody talks about the continuity we have in that room. While other programs are plugging in a dozen portal guys every spring and trying to figure out who even calls. That matters. That is how you build a defense that actually tackles and knows where to be. The ESPN piece on Golesh talking about building a family environment? That is exactly the kind of culture that translates to the defensive side of the ball. You cannot buy chemistry in the transfer portal. You cannot install brotherhood in a spring window. You develop that by having guys go through summer workouts together, by having them stay in the program and trust the process. Our defensive front has a chance to be nasty. The back end is athletic and long. Give me a unit that knows the scheme over a collection of mercenaries any day. This defense is gonna hold its own in the SEC this year.
