Oregon stacking five 5-stars in their 2026 class and everybody just wants to hand them the recruiting crown like it is over. I refuse to accept that narrative while we are sitting here in the top 15 with room to climb and a quiet summer dead period that is about to get loud. The crystal ball chatter I am hearing on a few of our priority 2027 targets is the real story nobody is tracking. There is a specific defensive back from the Southeast who has been in constant contact with our staff since spring practice ended and the buzz is getting stronger by the day.
This is the same year where Oregon flexed their NIL muuscle early and everybody wrote them in as the class champions before signing day even showed up. But here is what the bagmen in Eugene do not want you to know. Holding onto five 5-stars through a full recruiting year is harder than landing them in February. We have seen it before. Flips happen. Silent commits get shaky. And when those official visits start rolling in during the fall, the loyalty test gets real.
We need to stack defensive linemen and corners in this 2027 class or we are gonna get chewed up in Big Ten trench play for years. The ESPN rankings have us in the conversation but that is not enough. Not with Ohio State and Michigan and Oregon all loading up. Our staff needs to turn these summer relationships into early commitments before the dead period ends. No more waiting until December.
