David Hale can rank every QB room in the country and put Florida in the middle of the pack again, but the real story is how much the Gators QB efficiency is going to jump this fall. People pointing at last season's passing numbers are ignoring that the Gators finished 11th in the SEC in passer rating at 134.2, but that was with a revolving door at the position and no continuity. The offensive line gave up pressure on 32% of dropbacks, which directly cratered any QB's ability to get into a rhythm.
The Gators have two quarterbacks in the room right now who both have starting experience and completely different skill sets. One is a dual-threat who averaged 7.1 yards per attempt on designed runs, the other is a pocket passer who completed 68% of his passes in the spring game. That competition is going to push both of them to be better, and the coaching staff has a full offseason to build the offense around whoever wins the job instead of switching schemes midseason.
