Every media outlet trots out the same SEC schedule breakdown every single spring and y'all act like you're discovering fire. The SEC Now crew just dropped their team-by-team takeaways for 2026 and I guarantee you they glossed right over the most important thing for us. Nobody wants to talk about the fact that our defensive line rotation is going to be the deepest it has been since 2019. The depth we are building in the trenches this spring is not a talking point because it does not fit. We have dudes who can actually get home on third and long this year. I watched the whole segment they ran on the 2026 schedule and not a single mention of how our linebacker. The speed is different. The sideline to sideline range is different. We have guys flying aroound in spring drills that would have started two years ago and now they are competing for rotational snaps. That is what a real program build looks like. You do not need a flashy name at every position if you have ten guys who can play winning football in the SEC. The schedule sets up perfectly for us to stack wins early and build confidence before the gauntlet. Baylor coming to the Plains in that Thursday afternoon slot is exactly the kind of game that gets overlooked by. We get them at home, in the heat, in front of our crowd, and their offensive line has to deal with waves of fresh bodies. That is not a recipe for success for a Big 12 team that is not used to that kind of physicality. People keep sleeping on what this defense is becoming. We are not the same unit that got pushed around two seasons ago. The staff has identified exactly what we needed and went out and got it. When the dust settles on the 2026 season, people are going to look back at these spring takes and realize.
