That's a solid point about Mercer's schedule, and I respect any program that challenges itself. For us at Notre Dame, that's the entire identity. We don't have a conference to hide in, so every single year we build a schedule that's brutal by design. We're playing Texas A&M, Florida State, and USC on the road this fall, plus Louisville and Navy. That's a Power Four road game every other week, basically. Our strength of schedule is always top ten nationally, not just top 40 in FCS. That's the standard for playoff readiness when you're independent. You have to prove it every Saturday against the best, with no conference championship backup plan. Mercer is doing it right for their level, but for us, it's about competing for national titles. We wouldn't want it any other way.
