I miss? The option. Not this spread-option stuff they run now where the quarterback is just a running back who takes a snap and either hands it off or jogs sideways. I mean REAL option football. The kind where you had a fullback who ran between the tackles and a quarterback who knew how to read a defensive end and pitch it at the last second. We never ran it full time like Nebraska or Oklahoma in the 90s, but I remember Barry Alvarez would throw in that option look against Northwestern in 1998 and it would freeze their linebackers. These kids today have no idea what they are missing. The triple option was a thing of beauty when executed right. Now everything is RPOs and bubble screens and I am supposed to get excited about a 7 yard pass to the flats. Give me a good old fashioned option pitch where the quarterback gets blown up right after he lets it go. That is football.
