How is nobody talking about what the ESPN piece on the transfer portal killing QB competitions actually means for us? Because I read that whole thing and all I could think about was my tailgate setup last fall when we. We had the whole crew roll into the lot at 7 AM for that one non-conference game. The smoker was going with pork shoulders my cousin drove down from Montgomery with his special rub. We had the generator running the TV so we could watch the early games while we set up the canopy. And the whole four hours before kickoff all anybody talked about was which QB was gonna get the nod. We had arguments. We had debates. Somebody pulled up the spring game stats on their phone and we analyzed every throw like we were the coaching staff. That energy is what makes Saturdays in the lot special. Because I remember those years where we did not name a starter until game week and the offense looked disjointed. Maybe locking in a guy early through the portal and letting him build chemistry all spring and summer is actually smarter. It just does not feel as romantic when you are standing around the tailgate with no mystery to argue about. I will say this though. Whatever we do at the QB spot this year, the lot will be rocking regardless. The smell of smoked meat and the sound of the band warming up across the street. Tha...
