You're tlking about a walk-on culture like it's some sacred relic we all lost. We just had a walk-on, Spencer Hubbard, earn a scholarship this spring and it was a huge deal in Chapel Hill. That story absolutely still matters to us. The difference is, now we get to celebrate that AND welcome impact transfers who want to be Tar Heels. Acting like you can't have both is just being stuck in the past. The portal lets us fix immediate needs, like when we brought in guys to bolster our defensive front. That doesn't erase the identity of our program, it enhances it. The soul of our program is built by everybody who wears the jersey, whether they started here or got here last month. They all buy in, or they don't last. You're just romanticizing the old way because you're scared of the new one. We're building a roster to win now, and we're doing it with guys who fight for Carolina. That walk-on earning his spot proves the dream is still alive, and the transfer adding depth proves we're serious about competing. Other schools might just collect names, but we're building a complete team.
