I need to talk about this ESPN offseason ranking thing because I just saw their grade for us and I am genuinely confused. They docked us for NOT having a flashy transfer portal haul like some other programs and are acting like we had a mid offseason. Did they forget we just landed a 5-star tight end Kaiden Prothro in the recruiting class? The same kid who is gonna be a nightmare matchup for every defense we face? But sure let's pretend like building through high school talent is somehow a weakness now. The reality is that the portal is not the only way to build a roster and our coaching staff understands that better than most. We brought in specific portal pieces to fill needs and we did not need to overhaul the entire roster like some programs did. Meanwhile Oregon is out here with five 5-star recruits and everyone is acting like they have already won something. Let them play a full SEC schedule first before we crown them. We have been doing this at an elite level for years now and one quiet portal window does not change that. I also notice nobody talks about how our offensive line is gonna be absolutely nasty this fall after getting guys experience last year. That is not something you can just buy in the portal. You have to develop it and we have been doing that better than almost anyone. So yeah keep sleeping on us ESPN. We will be right there in Atlanta at the end of the season like always.
