You want to know what I miss? Recruiting. The old way. Before all this nonsense.
I remember when Barry Alvarez would send a handwritten letter to a kid from Waukesha or Stevens Point, and that kid would come to camp, run the hills at Camp Randall until he puked, and earn a scholarship the old fashioned way. We built those 1990s teams on Wisconsin kids who grew up dreaming of wearing the motion W, not on some transfer from the portal who is just looking for the highest NIL bidder.
Now we got Tony Petitti out in California talking about 24-team playoffs and sustainability while our rivals are buying whole new rosters off the internet. It is not recruiting anymore. It is shopping. And it makes me sick.
