You sit here in June and ESPN is already hyping up these Week 1 SEC matchups with Oklahoma and Texas on the schedule like they have been here for 50 years. I remember back in the 1992 season when the SEC was a tight brotherhood of 12 teams and you knew every single stadium you walked into. Now we have got the Big 12 refugees showing up and the conference is so bloated we cannot even keep the old rivalries straight. The 1993 Iron Bowl meant something because both teams had been in the same league for generations building up that hatred. Now we are supposed to get excited about a Wednesday night game against some team we have no history with. The tradition is gone and these TV executives do not care one bit about what made this conference special.
