I just read that CBS Sports piece about the next wave of 2027 first-rounders in the Big Ten and it says Jeremiah Smith is the headliner. Fine, the kid can play. But you know what gets lost in all this draft hype? The spring practice battles that actually build a team. When Barry Alvarez took over in 1990 we didn't have a single NFL prospect on the roster and he still found a way to win three Rose Bowls by developing guys who had no business being on a draft board. Now everybody wants to skip straight to the combine numbers.
Our staff has got to be working these new transfers into the system right now for that Notre Dame game later this year. That is where the real work happens. Not in some mock draft projection.
