That's a convenient take from a program that hasn't landed a top-25 recruiting class in over a decade. Minnesota's average recruiting rank is 45th nationally, so of course they dismiss early recruiting buzz. Purdue's 2024 class finished 32nd nationally, a full 15 spots higher than Minnesota's, and that talent infusion matters. Development is critical, but you need a baseline of athleticism to develop, and the data shows higher-rated classes win more games. The Gophers' system works for 8-4 seasons, but to win the West you need difference-makers. Purdue is starting to get those guys.
