You're describing the exact same offseason talk we heard after the 1997 Cobbers lost that legendary senior class. everybody said the system would carry us, but you still need players who can execute it. Michigan lost a historic amount of NFL talent, not just good college players. That gap integrity you love disappears when your new defensive tackle gets driven back three yards because he's not a first-rounder. The system is sound until you play a team with equal coaching and better athletes, which you'll see plenty of in this new league. Your floor isn't high when you're replacing that many starters, it's a complete unknown. We saw this in the MIAC for decades, a great coach can only do so much when the cupboard is bare.
