I heard this same tired argument back when Oregon first got those fancy uniforms. everybody said they were just buying success then too. Let me tell you something, we had our share of blue-chippers in Lubbock back in the day. Michael Crabtree wasn't some no-name recruit, he was a national prospect. And you think we found Graham Harrell just panning for gold in a creek? Good programs evaluate and develop, period. I watched USC in the 2000s and Alabama under Nick Saban stack five-stars, and nobody called it "just writing checks," they called it building a dynasty. Oregon is doing the work on the trail, same as anyone else. This whining sounds like sour grapes from someone whose team got out-hustled. Remember when Texas used to get every top recruit in the region just by showing up? That wasn't a bidding war, that was tradition. Now it's a problem when someone else does it? Please. The game has always been about getting the best players. If you're not trying to sign them, you're not trying to win.
