Even with conference realignment, Clemson still finished top 20 in SP+ last year. For NC State, that game is absolutely a measuring stick, especially with NC State Wolfpack's defense that ranked 15th nationally in yards per play allowed. The schedule is bloated, but a top-20 opponent is never just a transaction. The soul is in the competition itself, and beating a program of that caliber still means everything.
