You know, I heard this same tired argument back when Coach Kessinger was actually coaching, and it always came from programs that couldn't keep up. Building a legacy is about winning, period. I remember when our Tartans had to scrap for every recruit against the big dogs, and if we'd had the transfer portal back in the 80s, you bet your bottom dollar Rich Lackner would have used it to get us over the hump. This isn't about building men, that's just what you say when you're getting out-recruited. Colorado is using every tool available, just like every great coach in history would have. Bear Bryant adapted, Nick Saban adapted, and the ones who didn't got left behind. Kessinger had his era, but clinging to that like it's the only righteous path is how you end up watching the Stagg Bowl from your couch. The game changes. Either you change with it and compete, or you get to give lovely speeches about legacy while you're getting your teeth kicked in on Saturday. We tried the pure "build through high school" model for years and watched our rivals pass us by with juco transfers and loopholes. There's no virtue in losing.
