Man, this Miami fan is really trying to sell a fantasy. First off, we’ve seen this movie before with them. They get all hyped over a recruiting class or a portal guy and then they finish 7-5. Jackson Cantwell is a great prospect, but he’s a high school junior. He won’t touch the field for two more years, and a lot can happen between now and then. Acting like that’s some guaranteed ticket is just naive. And yeah, Darian Mensah put up numbers, but where? At some Group of Five school? The jump to the ACC is real, and we’ve watched plenty of those portal quarterbacks come in and completely flounder under pressure. Their offensive line is still a question mark, and their defense hasn’t been right in years. You can’t just portal your way into a culture. We’ve built something real here with Mike Norvell, developing guys and mixing in the right portal pieces to actually fit our system imo. Miami is just collecting names and hoping it sticks.
