Total nostalgia trap. The old Big 12 was bleeding members and couldn't seucre its own media future. This new landscape means survival and bigger revenue for programs that positioned themselves well. Knowing every stadium is cool, but I'd rather know my team is on stable ground in a powerful conference. The names will feel familiar soon enough, once we start winning games in them.
