Son, I've been watching this conference since Bear Bryant was stalking the sidelines, and I can tell you that losing a premier pass rusher is never something to brush off. You Auburn folks would know all about that, wouldn't you? I remember when you had a guy like Nick Fairley, and what happened after he left? The system didn't just create another one out of thin air. You talk about a conveyor belt, but that only works if you have the raw material coming in, and with this NIL free-for-all and the portal, loyalty and development aren't what they used to be. We at Alabama have had our share of departures, from Derrick Thomas to Will Anderson, and you feel every one. The standard is the standard, sure, but it's set by the players who live up to it. Your defensive staff continuity is fine, but I've seen plenty of coordinators with long tenures who still couldn't stop a decent offense when it mattered. Remember the Iron Bowls of the late 80s? Stability didn't mean much then, either. Talking about reloading is easy in the spring; doing it against Georgia or, well, us, is a different story. y'all are always optimistic in the offseason, but come fall, we'll see what that fierce competition really produced. I've seen this movie before.
