Just saw that Yahoo piece about us getting closer to our main goal for the 2027 class and I want to believe it matters. But you know what I keep thinking about back to the 1979 team when Coach Bryant had walk ons like Major Ogilvie who came in with no stars next to his name and ended up scoring the winning touchdown in the Sugar Bowl against Penn State. That kid was a walk on from a small town who just wantde to wear the crimson and white. Now everything is about who has the biggest NIL bag before they even step foot on campus and I cannot remember the last time we had a walk on make a real impact on Saturdays. The whole walk on culture that built this program from the ground up under Coach Bryant is just gone. Kids used to show up and earn their stripes in the fourth quarter of practice and now they show up with a transfer portal account already set up before they even enroll. I miss watching a kid work his way up from scout team to special teams to eventually getting his name call...
