You watch these Big Ten schools threatening to boycott Texas Tech over the Sorsby ruling and I just think back to the 1998 season when Dennis Franchione took a bunch of overlooked Texas kids and won the WAC championship with nobody crying about eligibility. That man built teams out of grit and film study, not courtroom victories. The difference between Coach Fran and what we see now is he would never have needed a judge to get a kid on the field. He found players the old way. This whole mess tells me the sport has lost its soul when lawyers matter more than coaches. We better hope our program never needs a court order to win football games.
