The kind we ran in the 70s and 80s when Coach Stallings was building those power teams. You watch that old footage from the 1992 Sugar Bowl and you see a fullback taking a three-step drop and the quarterback reading the end man on the line of scrimmage. That was football. That was discipline. You had to be tough in the trenches and smart with your reads. Now everything is five wide and throw it 50 times. No wonder these kids hit the portal when they dont touch the ball every play. The option taught you patience and teamwork. This new stuff teaches you to pad your stats and transfer.

I don't care how many skill position plyers we stockpile or how flashy the offense looks in spring scrimmages. Football is won and lost in the box and we have been soft. Period. The portal exists for a reason. Go find a grown man who can two-gap and eat double teams. Go find a linebacker who can shed a block and fill the hole instead of getting washed out five yards downfield. We have the culture. We have the stadium. We have the resources. There is zero excuse for getting pushed around like we did last season and I will not sit here and. The SEC is loaded with backs who will run through arm tackles all day. If we show up with the same front seven that got gashed in November we are in for a long year. Fix the interior or prepare for another season of moral victories.
